Boys Soccer Staying Sharp for Spring OFSAA

Our Ravens Senior Boys Soccer Team was looking to continue their winning ways as they competed in the 1st Annual Carleton University Winter Soccer Classic on Friday. Some of the best teams in the city all participated in a 4 pool, 16 team tournament draw.
The Ravens pool was a difficult one to win with games against Soccer Powerhouse Louis Riel and AA OFSAA Reps from Cairine Wilson.  The boys found a way to win the pool with a tie against Les Rebelles from LR and a convincing win against Cairine Wilson.  The fourth team in the group backed out last night, so our boys had the privilege of playing against the Men’s Carleton University Varsity Team.  In that game, the boys played well but still lost 4-0.  In the end, our Soccer Raven Boys earned a spot in the semi-final.
We faced off against West Carleton in the semis.  After 25 minutes of play, the score was tied 1-1, forcing penalties.  The first 5 shooters for each team took their kicks, and we were still tied.  We then went 1 for 1 for another 9 rounds.  In the end, Baset Hashimy made a big save and Peter Damianakos faced the pressure and scored the winning goal.  Finals here we come!
In the finals, we faced off against another Sport-Etude School in Franco-Cite.  This was a very good team and they were obviously too much to handle for us.  Even though we lost in the finals, the boys had a great day of competition..noted coach Secours.
We now continue our journey to OFSAA as we play in a few other tournaments and exhibition games from now until June.
If you see any of the boys, congratulate them on their efforts.
